Celebrate - Birthday Balloon

Today's card is almost a little rehash on yesterday's colour pallet - I went a touch lighter with the blue, subbing in Pool Party instead of Bermuda Bay, and darker with the purple, using Elegant Eggplant instead of Perfect Plum.  Add in some silver instead of gold and you've got today's fun birthday card!

Backgrounds have never been so easy since the release of the Watercolour Wash background stamp - throw a focal point on it and you're done!  This card could easily be used for a man or woman - although you might want to rethink the little bow.  :)

Can you believe tomorrow is July already?!  I'll be back tomorrow with a special card for Canada Day - see you then!

Whole Lot Of Lovely!

I just love this stamp set - it's a hostess set, and if this isn't reason to host a party or place a big order, I don't know what is!  It's called A Whole Lot of Lovely, and it really is.

Fair warning:  you're going to see a lot of that paper from Typeset DSP coming up this week.  Apparently I was super into it when creating!  Today, it's paired with Bermuda Bay and Perfect Plum - pretty and unexpected, right?

And if you're like me, you're probably missing the Starburst Framelits - want a little trick?  The starburst in this card was created with a scalloped circle - just punch it out, then shift it a tiny bit and cut it again.  It's almost as good as the real deal!

Cheers and see you tomorrow!

Congrats On That Thing...

Sometimes, I find an ink pad that is still brand new.  I have a love-hate relationship with this - I initially get all giddy, because DUDE!  Brand new ink pad!  And then I'm like, ugh.  It's a stark reminder of the copious amounts of Stampin' Up I have and that I never even use some of it.  Eek!  But it's cool, guys - I stamped that Always Artichoke and my guilt promptly subsided.  And also, I don't smoke or drink or have any bad habits so if I want to spend all of my money on Stampin' Up, more power to me, I say.

But I digress.

The people in my life never get tired of my smarminess and sarcasm, I SWEAR.  #notreally

It's a million-billion degrees here in Calgary so we're off to spend the day walking around Costco and mooching free samples and air conditioning.  I hope your day is just as good!  Cheers!

Triple-Up Thursday: No Bones About It

It's Triple-Up Thursday again!  First time here?  Triple-Up Thursday is a (mostly) weekly feature where we keep it simple - three 3x3" cards made with one stamp set and five ink pads.  Even though I definitely don't practice this mantra (ha!), I swear it's true - you CAN create beautiful cards without a stocked-to-the-gills craft room full of supplies!

Today's feature set is No Bones About It.  This fabulous dinosaur set was a must-have of mine, and I knew my son would love it.  And I wasn't wrong!  When my order arrived, I was unpacking it and my boy saw the corner of a dinosaur peeking out - he immediately dove into the box and grabbed it, shouting "DINOSAUUUUURS!  I need to stamp with this!"  (He's a little dude after my own heart!)

When I choose a set for Triple-Up Thursday, I look for a stamp set with a good mix of sentiments and images - No Bones About It fits perfectly.  There are so many options with this stamp set - it's a great one to just sit down and go to town with.  It has 18 separate stamps, making for endless possibilities (don't make me do the math again, you guys!)

The colour pallet - Soft Suede, Island Indigo, Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist, and Mossy Meadow - is so fun and bright!

That party hat - ack!  So cute.

Thank you for stopping in again today - I hope you enjoyed today's fun creations!

Reflection at Sunset - Technique Tutorial

Hi again!  I'm excited to share something special today - my very first video tutorial!  This is a technique I taught to a group of demonstrators almost two weeks ago; it was supposed to "go live" shortly after on my blog, but my voice was absolutely gone after that night - it just wasn't in the cards!

Today's card is a mix of two easy and fabulous techniques - Watercolour Block Stamping, to create the gorgeous background, and Reflection Stamping, to create a mirror image of a stamp.

Reflection stamping is really fun, and there's no better stamp to demo it with than this fabulous city skyline from Calling All Heroes.  This stamp set is due to be unavailable any day now; make sure you snap it up before it's gone!  It's one I use often and easily one of my favourites.

Finished off with the Writing Notes background stamp and Alphabet Rotary for a custom sentiment, the technique panel takes centre stage.  Check out this quick video and try it for yourself!

Thanks for stopping in - I hope you had fun and learned something new!  Have a wonderful day!
