Holiday Tin - a Paper Pumpkin makeover!

Good morning!  Can you believe that we are in the teens-away from Christmas already?!  Eek!

If you're a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you would have received the November 2015 kit, called Mistletoe & Holly already... and if you're not a subscriber, why not?!  Paper Pumpkin is pretty much the best thing since pre-sliced cardstock.  It's also a super easy addition to your wishlist - there's links below to forward a loved one!  Wink wink, nudge nudge.


My Paper Pumpkin kit tends to be a jumping-off point for me.  I usually make one or two of the intended projects, and then consider the rest of the box to be a new addition to my supplies.  And my new supplies this month were AWESOME!  The stamps were amazing, the die-cuts and patterned paper were adorable, and the teeny-tiny Dimensionals might have been the cutest thing I've ever seen.  
I had a little silver tin in my closet (between yesterday's post and today's, are you starting to wonder what my closet in my craft room looks like?!  I don't want to talk about it...) so I decided to fill it with some treats and decorate it up.  By adding a belly band around the tin, the whole pieces easily slides off without having to rip it!  


I just love how this little beauty turned out.  It's so nice to add a touch of homemade love to a simple gift to really kick it up a notch.  Chocolates taste better when they're presented with a pretty paper and embellishments and twine, don't they?!

I hope this little treat inspires you to create something special for your packaging this season - start with what you've got in that beautiful Pumpkin box!

TGIFC17 - School Days!

Thanks goodness it's Friday - seriously - and thank goodness it's time for TGIF Challenges!  


This week's theme is probably hitting too close to home for some of you... 


Maybe your kids have already gone back.  Maybe they're going back soon.  Maybe your baby is starting school for the first time this year (oh, I can't even deal with this - my little man doesn't start until next September and I'm already emotional!) 

Today, I thought I'd feature a little start-of-school gift.  This could be something special for your child, or a sweet gift for your little one to bring to their teacher on their first day. 


The sentiment on this one has two special little features - first of all, it's a Paper Pumpkin stamp - and you KNOW how I love my Paper Pumpkin!  Secondly, the stamp is straight.  But straight just wouldn't do, and this is why I love photopolymer - using your fingers, gently curve the sentiment as you adhere it to the block, then press firmly to hold it in place.  Kablammo!  Custom curvature!

Magic Birthday Party!

Okay, I'm SO excited today is finally here - I've been antsy with anticipation to share today's creations!

A few weeks back, I had this random idea to make a little top hat out of cardstock.  So that occupied me for a few minutes, and then after chuckling a few times and saying "what was I thinking?" and "WHY would I make a top hat?" and "what am I possibly going to do with this?", I set it aside.  I considered throwing it out.  I was in a slump a few weeks back and had a chronic case of hating everything I made.  We've all been there.

Anyway, I picked up the top hat a few days later and my bestie and I had a few more chuckles about just putting it on her dog or my son... because seriously.  Tiny paper top hat.  WHY, Shannon, WHY?! 

But then, the magic birthday idea took shape.  By time I was finished, my bestie was trying to convince me to throw my son a magic-themed party for his birthday.  Need an idea for the next party you're throwing?  Have a peek! 



The top hat spawned a little party wand, then a napkin ring, then a simple invitation - all from Stampin' Up products!


Quite frankly, I think that sweet little top hat would make an adorable centrepiece.  So glad I didn't throw it out!


The napkin ring was customized with a retired die, but any number (or just 29 again!) could be added with our Little Letters Dies!  And the invitation?  So easy - using Project Life Day to Day, simply add the date - duplicate the paper layers on the rear side and handwrite your invitation!  


Okay, now that I've written this post and reviewed the photos, I kind of DO want to throw a magic-themed party!  It's a bit of overkill for pizza with my family for a four-year-old, but when it's this cute and easy, why not?!

Christmas in July!

The month is almost over and I couldn't let it pass without a Christmas In July post!  


Christmas in July seemed like a fun idea until I realized I literally have NO current Christmas stamps, paper, or ANYTHING in my collection.  Well, then - there's a new challenge!  Gold, green, and red with a touch of yellow worked nicely for a holiday card, and I was able to sneak a sentiment out of my past Paper Pumpkin stamps - they're always saving the day!

The release of the 2015 Stampin' Up Holiday Catalogue is just around the corner - I can't wait to share it with you!  I'll be pre-ordering next week (hellloooooo demonstrator perks!) and you'll see some new items sneaking into the mix soon!
