Tiny Teepee - Little One

Hello friends!

How's your day going?  It's been a tough couple of weeks in our house with a kiddo who won't sleep or stay in his own bed - I'm exhausted and it's all catching up with me, especially as back-to-school lingers just days away!  If any seasoned mommas have tips, I'm all ears...

In the meantime, I chose this card to share today because it reminds me of when they're young and sweet and don't talk back yet!  

This card was made by request for a customer attending a baby shower.  She regularly buys cards from me - and I love my regulars, because they usually just tell me to "make whatever you'd like!"  I love that they trust my vision and they're always so grateful.  It warms my heart.

This adorable teepee is from Little One, one of the beautiful sets in the 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.  I love the modern and crisp fonts and the beautiful teepee.

I'm still loving the brand new sets from the annual catalogue, like this one, and hoping they don't fall by the wayside in a few days...

Think Pink - Fancy Friday Blog Hop

Hi friends!  We're back for another Fancy Friday blog hop!  So happy you've joined us.  You're probably coming from the extremely wonderful and incredibly talented Cindy Schuster, and you're now visiting me - Shannon in Calgary, Canada.  Our little group of friends and Stampin' Up! demonstrators is thinking pink this month - cotton candy, puffy dresses, and all things girly!  

Confession:  I struggled with this BIG TIME.  I am entirely not a girly-girl (like WHOA.  Everything I own is black and I don't even know how to french braid) and going pink was tough!  I like pink as an accent colour, sure, but not as a focus!  I made several cards and decided to share the one I liked the most.  The others may come at a later date!  

I dug out several of my new stamp sets to try for this hop, and I ended up going with Chase Your Dreams.  I wanted to use the adorable hand-drawn castle for a pretty pretty princess birthday card!  Castles, pink, and glitter seemed like a great combination, so I got to work with those.

I was kind of on to something, right?!  I mean, it's not MY style, certainly, but I suspect a little girl might love it.  I mean, I'm guessing... I don't KNOW any little girls, but still.  Ha!  

The peek of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and the coordinating iridescent sequins just make it something extra special; the perfect bit of "bling" for a little princess.  I have to say - in the end, I had a lot of fun making this card!  I might CASE it again... but in blue next time.  :)

Hello, Baby [Girl!]

A few weeks ago, a sweet baby girl was welcomed into the family; since my husband and I got married seven years ago, I've made a rag quilt for each baby born into the extended family on both sides - and there have been a LOT of babies!  However, it had been a while since we'd had a girl expected; the only girls born had been "surprises," so their quilts were gender-neutral.  This was another "surprise" baby (the sex, I mean - not the baby itself!) and I had another gender-neutral quilt all but done, but when the news came that she was a girl, I scrapped it and started over.  It had been nearly four years since I'd made something fabulously girly and I was DYING to delve into the pretty prints again!

So this is what I came up with!  The hexagon print has been one of my favourites for a while now, so I used that as my starting point and working in the other colours and prints.  I absolutely love how it turned out (and- if we're being honest- I wanted to keep it for myself!)  Most of these prints are from Riley Blake ("So Happy Together") and a couple from Michael Miller.

Anyway, all of this brings me to the point of today's post - I was in a massive crunch to get this quilt made, from start to finish (including fabric shopping!) in just a couple of days.  I did it - got it bundled, wrapped, and went to my stash to grab a card - and GUYS?!  I had no baby girl cards.  I had to send a store-bought blank card.  I'm hanging my head in shame.  I definitely had to remedy that situation and create a baby girl card to add to my stash.  Babies give you lots of warning and everything, but none of that changes the fact that I'm a HUGE procrastinator!

I'm not a girly-girl, and that fact is just solidifying now that I have a son.  So "girly" to me is fun, funky, bright, and modern!  I love the shapes, the depth, and the fun-factor of this little card. 

...Especially the little crown.  Because every new baby should be treated like royalty.
