Flourishing Phrases - Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop

Hello friends!  Welcome back to another Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop.  We are so pleased to be back again to share some creations with Flourishing Phrases and the coordinating Flourish thinlits.

The funny thing with this project is that a few weeks ago, I shared a project for an "open" blog hop - meaning we can use whichever supplies we would like from our Artisan boxes - and I used the exact supplies we are supposed to use for this hop, and then when THIS hop rolled around, I had no ideas!  Yes, even the artisan team gets a mental block sometimes!

I decided since the last project was so bold and graphic, this one would be softer and with more muted colours.

This combination of Tip Top Taupe, Old Olive, and Calypso Coral with a touch of gold works together beautifully.  It's soft and gentle; perfect for a card like this.

Thanks so much for swinging by!  Let's pop over and see what Steffi has whipped up this week.

Have a fabulous day!

Cheers,
Shannon

Enjoy Your Day!

Hi there!  I'm just getting ready for an Artisan Blog Hop tomorrow night and realizing how long it's been since I posted - yikes!  I'm in beautiful southern Ontario for a visit with my family; my son and I have been enjoying the beach and the hot weather - that boy is a fish and really loves the water!  He's happy as a clam here and we sure are enjoying our visit!

Meanwhile, my husband is at home (probably catching up on sleep, as any parent can appreciate!) and I figured I should share this card!  He has already seen it - and it was intended to be his birthday card - but just as I was adhering the finishing touches, I remembered that I promised him I'd make a llama card for his birthday.  What can I say?  The dude loves llamas.  So this one was tossed aside as quickly as it was made.  Whoops.

I still like it, though!  I like the simplicity, the colours, and that beautiful sunburst - made by stamping the rays from Wherever You Go twice.  So easy, and such a lovely technique!

Have a wonderful day - see you late Wednesday night for an Artisan Design Team blog hop!

Cheers,
Shannon

Hello Lovely - PLxSU

Hello lovelies!

Are you a Project Life convert?  I had never tried it, but a few years ago I was bit by the bug.  I had to try the Project Life Stampin' Up! kits, and the method totally won me over.  I am a convert!

But from time to time, those beautiful collections call my name when I just don't have it in me to work on a scrapbook layout, no matter how simple.
Sometimes, a girl just wants to make a card... and our Project Life collections are perfect for that, too!

This little beauty was whipped up with the Hello Lovely collection, brand new this year.  I loved the soft colours, and that gorgeous dandelion fluff stamp, and the wooden embellishments... it is all SO dreamy!

Have a lovely day, my friends!

Cheers,
Shannon

Succulents and Gardening Failures...

Good morning!  I hope you're having a beautiful weekend!

Are you a gardener?  I have something between a black thumb and a green thumb.  Basically, nature is my green thumb.  If I put something in the outdoor garden, planted in the soil, it thrives.  I leave it alone and let mother nature take care of the rest, and my garden does alright.  I just harvested some beautiful pattypan squash a couple of nights ago, we had fresh garden beets a few days before, and we've had a steady supply of garden peas and fresh raspberries for weeks now.  My flowers are thriving and we're being rewarded with pops of colour every time another plant blooms; peonies, lilies, loupins, poppies, and more.

With that said, though, I have a total love-affair with succulents.  Even as a kid, hens and chicks were my favourite plant.  Each year, my parents would let us choose a plant for the garden, and my choice was always a succulent.  And in the garden, they're SO hardy... my hens and chicks spread like mad.  I have some sedum that took over a corner of the yard.  And you can't kill that stuff even if you tried... right?  I mean, it gets run over with the lawn mower and comes back!
So I tried last year to bring them into the house.   I planted a big pot of hens and chicks at the front door, and I bought all of these adorable little jars and mugs and even a tiny ceramic bathtub and filled them with sedum and succulents to decorate my kitchen.

A month later, all I had was bugs.  Dead plans and bugs.  I don't know what it is about me, but I couldn't save an indoor plant if my life depended on it.

The succulents in the Live, Love, Grow stamp set are lovely, though.  And they don't attract bugs.  And they don't die.  And I can always make more to share with my friends.  :)

These are super-easy to mask and layer to make beautiful little arrangements without overlapping lines.  They make a perfect focal point without much else added to it!  New to masking?  Here's a video I shared last year that explains the technique perfectly.  I stamp each image onto a post-it, so it sticks, and then keep them in my stamp case for future use.

Have a wonderful day, my friends - enjoy it!

Cheers,
Shannon
