Triple-Up Thursday: Winter Wishes

It's not too soon for holiday warm-and-fuzzies, is it?!  We just wrapped up Thanksgiving (I'm Canadian - we get a head-start on these things!) and so I'm starting to get in the holiday mood!

I'm sharing a Triple-Up Thursday this week with Winter Wishes, one of the beautiful winter sets in the Holiday 2015 Catalog.  I really love this set because it's a little bit rustic, a little bit masculine, and a little bit christmas-sy without beating you over the head with Santa and snowflakes.  It's really just lovely.

Is this your first time here for Triple-Up Thursday?  It's a weekly(ish) affair where I share a collection of three 3x3" cards featuring one stamp set and five ink colours.  I tend to go overboard with supplies on my regular projects, so I like to get back to my roots and keep it simple every once in a while.  While I may personally feel the need to own everything under the sun, there really isn't a need for it.  (Although if you ever tell my husband I said that, I will deny it to the death and say someone hacked my blog.)

Each of these cards is charming in its own way, but I especially love the skates hanging on a nail.

But then I see the snowshoe again and I almost change my mind...

And then the pinecones remind me of everything lovely about growing up in the Canadian Rockies and I have a new favourite all over again.

TGIFC24: Bonus card!

So here's a funny story!  A couple of months ago, I made today's card.  It was a random creation with no theme or recipient in mind; just creating for the sake of creating.  I've mentioned before that I tend to photograph and add projects to my blog in batches, and this card kept getting skipped over.  Not for any reason... it just DID. 

Look familiar?  I chuckled to myself this week when I went to create my card for TGIF Challenges and saw this oldie sitting on my desk - it fit the bill almost perfectly!

TGIFC24: Sketch Challenge!

Hello again, friends!  I feel like it's been ages since I've updated - it's only been a week, but seems like an eternity!

It's Friday again and we're all ready to go for another round of TGIF Challenges.  This week's challenge?  A sketch!  My favourite!  Check it out:

Sketch challenges are always my favourite because each interpretation has the same bones but is totally different - it's so much fun to see what the rest of the team creates, and I love to see the creations of the challengers each week!  Here's my version: 

I pulled out my Let's Get Away Project Life kit for this project, and I decided to make a shaker card - I have a plethora of sequins in my office and some needed to be used up!  I can't keep them forever... (or can I?  Bwahaha...) 

And since I had punched out that heart, I decided I needed to make something with it.  I didn't want to toss it into my scrap pile and forget about it; it was too cute!  The other side had this great floral pattern, so I went from there and made a little 3x3" card.

TGIFC23 - October Colour Challenge!

Good mooooorning!  It's Friday morning - while you're reading this, I'm probably hittin' the highway on my way to my twice-annual paper crafting retreat weekend in the Rockies!  Surely, you can understand why I'm in such a darn good mood!  And, of course, Friday means time for TGIF Challenges!

This past week (okay, month...) has been chaos in our house, so I needed a project this week that was short and sweet, but still packed a punch.  This month is a colour challenge, so that leaves it wide open... and I've got Project Life on the brain, since I just printed three full years of photos to finally put into albums... so I decided to make a set of custom Project Life cards!

The colour pallet lent itself beautifully to a little halloween collection.

And a bit of washi tape and a window sheet made an easy shaker card!

A few quick lines with a Stampin' Write Marker and you've got a custom journalling card!

So quick and easy - I can't wait to slot these into my book this weekend!

Happy Haunting - Halloween Treat Box

Tick tick tick... the countdown is on!  We are only 30 days from Halloween!  Eek!  Have you started on your treats yet?  I have a quick and easy little box to share with you today!  

I love making little treats for the special people in my life - any holiday is an excuse to share crafts and candy, as far as I'm concerned!

This tiny box came together in a flash.  The Go Wild DSP Stack has fabulous graphic black-and-white prints, so I used one 6x6" sheet with the Gift Box Punch Board and voila!  Custom box!

It needed a little bit of decoration, of course, so a strip from the Happy Haunting DSP (cut with fringe scissors and curled at the ends) combined with a big black bat and a spooky sentiment finished it off nicely.  This box needs Reese's Pieces and we are all set!  

I feel like I haven't yet sung the praises of the brand new Basic Black Archival Stampin' Pad.  You're probably raising your eyebrow right now and saying "Seriously, Shannon? It's a black ink pad.  Get a grip, lady."  But you GUYS.  It's amazing.  It's so rich and creamy and wonderful!  And it is BLACK.  Oooh, I just love it.  It is truly the perfect black ink!

Showered with Love

A few days ago, I shared a custom birthday card I whipped up - today, I want to share one more!  The last one was a very open-ended request, so I figured I'd counterbalance that with this card, which was a very specific request.  The customer asked if I could make a bridal shower card.  Why, of course!  Can I make it with penguins?  Sure, why not!  At this point, the request became quite specific - a boy and a girl penguin, standing together while a bunch of hearts fall on them, and then the sentiment should say "showering my new sister with love."

Well, alright!

I wish it would've photographed better, but the girl penguin actually has a little lacy doily veil.  Tee hee!  A nice contract to Mr. Penguin's tuxedo and little buttons.  The custom sentiment was printed onto Whisper White cardstock with my computer and added as a liner on the inside of the card.

I love how this custom request turned out, and so did my customer - so nice to see someone's ideas take shape!

Calling All Birthday Boys!

I've been up to my eyeballs lately in custom card orders, so I thought I'd share a couple of the fun ones this week!  I've been doing baby shower thank you cards, new baby cards, birthday cards, wedding cards, thank you cards... but of course, one of my favourites is going to be a birthday card for a little dude just older than mine. 

The request for this card was simple - his name is Ryan, and he's turning 5.  I found out he had blonde hair, so I worked that in too to make Ryan his very own superhero card (with a mask in his favourite colour - Tangelo Twist!  Er, I mean, orange.  Haha!)

This fabulous build-a-comic stamp set, called Calling All Heroes, is still around!  It's one of my favourites and I highly recommend snapping it up, especially if you have little boys in your life.  It even has its own alphabet, so you can make custom comic book sentiments!  Eek, so fun!
