You're A Gem! Paper Pumpkin Bonus Project

My Paper Pumpkin stamps were calling to me to make a quick, easy, and fun bonus project - the kit in March came with this darling little gem, and a matching sentiment - one of a HUGE stamp set that month!  


So simple to make this sweet card with one ink pad (two if you make the sentiment a different colour, like I did here), a scrap of Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper, and a bit of metallic thread.  This could come together in five minutes flat, just in time to remind someone how much they mean to you before you run out the door to see them.  :)

English Garden - Two Ways (and a TGIF Challenges entry!)

Food for thought today!  

I'm the first to admit that I'm not much of a DSP user.  I find I sneak in patterned paper as a little accent here and there rather than a focal point on a card.  Other than Typeset DSP, which I use constantly and tend to treat the same way I do hot sauce - you know the ad - "I put that $#!+ on everything!" Today, however, I'm aiming to change that!  

A few nights ago, I sat down with a handful of supplies on my desk and created a card for this week's TGIF Challenges, "Together Forever."  My pile of supplies included the English Garden DSP, metallic doilies, bits of gold foil paper and vellum and Typeset DSP, and some metallic thread.  I chose this beautiful pink sheet of paper and used it as a focal point to create a pretty card for a wedding or engagement.  



And while that pile of supplies was still on my desk, I went in an entirely different direction.  The weird thing is, the supplies on these two cards - at face value - are virtually the same, but the cards themselves are drastically different.

The red and white striped paper made me think of a nautical theme, so I paired it with navy and gold and made a more masculine birthday card.


Two cards, same supplies, totally different look.  Cool, eh?

You're So Vintage - Treat Bag

Hello friends!  It feels like an eternity since I've blogged (even though it hasn't even been a week!)  I picked up a horrible virus and spent the last week feeling like death and having ZERO energy.  My husband and I were both terribly sick last weekend, just as our son was finally picking up speed since he was Patient Zero.  It was BAAAAD NEWS in this house - neither of us could keep our eyes open or do anything and he was bouncing off the walls after being cooped up for the week prior.  Ugh.  I hope we don't do that again for a long time!

Anyway, first and foremost, you've probably noticed there's been a little makeover around here!  I've updated the header of the blog and changed my watermark/logo to freshen it up a bit.  It's still me, though - just a little bit of change for summer.  :)

I've got some fabulous projects coming up since I've finally had a chance to create with all of my new goodies!  I can't wait to start sharing these new and fabulous items with you.  Starting with my favourite new stamp set, That Thing You Did.  It's packed full of fun and funky sentiments, including my new favourite addendum to basically everything: "...but not in a creepy way."  ;)


The Mini Treat Bag Thinlit die seriously comes together in no time flat - and isn't this a nice little treat for a friend or co-worker?  These are perfect for when you want to give me than a card but not an entire gift - just fill it up with some candies or a gift card and you're all set.  So cute.

A little tip with this set - use your sponges to create multi-coloured images!  For this one, I stamped the whole sentiment in Crushed Curry and then used a sponge to wipe the yellow off the edges.  Then I sponged Calypso Coral ink onto one end, and Bermuda Bay onto the other, overlapping the colours slightly.   Give the whole thing an "ahhhhhh" with your sexy breath (you know what I mean, right?  Hot breath, not cold blowing!) and then stamp.  It fades from one colour to the next and creates such a pretty effect!

Quick & Easy & Bright & Fun!

Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush just POP on this cheery card, perfect to brighten the day of someone going through a rough patch.  And you can make it in five minutes.  I promise.

Watermelon Cake Banner

This week, my husband started a new job.  And also, I love cake.

What do those two things have to do with one another?  Well, I pretty much like any excuse to eat cake.  We celebrate with cake a lot in our family.

I didn't want to turn on the oven that day, since it was waaaay too hot, so I picked up a little mini cake at the grocery store.  The least-girly/least-childish cake they had was this sweet little watermelon, and I used the colours as a jumping-off point to create a quick and easy banner.


And by quick and easy, I mean that I put this together in 15 minutes just before he walked in the door.  Shhhh.


The pattern stamp from I Think You're Great reminded me of watermelon seeds, so it was an easy choice.  Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush were bright and summer enough to make this pop.

That cake, by the way?  Not good.  Should've turned my oven on.  :)
