Christmas Cod

Hello friends and happy Friday!  I've got a fun Christmas card for you today - perfect for your Newfie friend, my fellow Canadians (or a Bostonian, of course!)

Once again, this was another watercolour practice - something I've been working on for the last few weeks!  This little cod was much more detailed and precise than the bigger shapes I've worked on, so it was quite a test; I think I coloured four before I chose one I liked.  Practice makes perfect, after all!

You may notice the sliver of acetate behind the focal point - don't be afraid to cut things up!  This was taken from one of the cards in the Hello December 2016 Project Life Accessory Pack.  So fun!

Have a fabuous weekend - see you again soon!

Cheers,
Shannon

Holiday Bottle Tags

Hello friends!  I've got a quick and easy project today, perfect for last-minute holiday gifting:  bottle tags!  Paired with champagne, wine, beer, or even a festive bottle of soda, they turn a regular gift into something personal and handmade.  So lovely, and so easy!

Cheerful Tags Framelits Dies have your back with this project; one quick cut gives you the basic shape, and the additional dies in the set will help you embellish to your heart's content!

A bottle of champagne calls for something classy - like Night of Navy with gold and Vanilla embellishments.

But cut with DSP and embellished with fun accents and colours, even a bottle of Candy Cane Soda can be a fun, personalized gift!

Nobody said host gifts have to be fancy, after all!

Cheers,
Shannon

Watercolour World Peace

Good morning, my friends!  I hope you're having a lovely weekend.  I've been spending time with my momma, who came for a visit this past week, and we've been prepping for Christmas like mad women - putting up the tree, shopping and wrapping gifts, and playing board games and sipping tea.  It's been a lovely week!

It was time for a quick update and I wanted to share one of my recent favourites.  I mentioned lately that I've been working on watercolouring - this is another one of my test projects.  Non-specific shapes are so much easier, so I started with jars and globes.  I just love how this one turned out.

That pretty watercolour globe needed to be the centerpiece, so I accented it with lots of neutrals - white, silver, ivory, clear, vellum, and some texture without any colour.  It lets the focal point shine.

I hope you're having a great day - the countdown is on until the big day - three weeks to go!

Cheers,
Shannon

Basket of Sunflowers - Artisan Design Team Blog Hop

Hello friends, and welcome back for another Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop!  We are hopping around the world tonight - our second last one of the year, sadly - which means you're probably coming from Rachel in France.  Thanks for visiting me (Shannon in Canada) today!

This week's post is an "open" hop, which means we can choose whatever we'd like from the last box of Artisan supplies.  Much to my surprise, I still had three stamp sets that were entirely unused!  I needed to remedy that, so I cracked open Basket of Wishes.  And I knew I wanted to use the gorgeous sunflower!

The colours in the All Year Long Project Life collection would coordinate perfectly with the images in this stamp set, so I pulled those too - Very Vanilla, Mint Macaron, Early Espresso, Delightful Dijon, and Crumb Cake.  So beautiful together, and great to accompany a basket of sunflowers.  I love the delicate printed vellum and the bold woodgrain.  So lovely!

I'm a sucker for a good sentiment, but sometimes, a blank card is exactly what you need.  A delicate image stamped on the envelope adds a nice touch, too!

Let's visit Steffi next and see what she has up her sleeve...

Have a great day - happy stamping!

Cheers,
Shannon
