MDS To The Rescue! - Last Minute Christmas Cards

Okay, be honest: who's here because they're procrastinating on their massive holiday to-do list?  It's not just me, right?!

I had a moment of panic last week when I realized I barely had time to mail our holiday cards... AND I HADN'T EVEN MADE THEM YET.  Sweet merciful crap, where has this month gone?!  But it's okay!  Stampin' Up! has a fabulous template in My Digital Studio for a totally fabulous family update card.  I whipped through this in under an hour, printed them as photos, mounted on Pool Party cardstock, and BAM.  They were in the mail.  Woo hoo!  (I apparently worked a little too quickly as I realized today that I forgot to include my son's picture with Santa for the grandparents.)

I've edited this version a little bit for my blog (removing my husband and son's last name, place of employment, etc.) but regardless, here's the scoop:  it comes just like this, you can customize EVERYTHING, print it as your local printer, and you're ready to roll.  So cute, right?  There's still time!  Or... just pick it up for next year.  At $4.50 for the digital download, why not?!

Now get back to work!  That shortbread isn't going to bake itself!  :)

Cheers and Merry Christmas!

Vintage Christmas Pomander

This week, we had a handmade holiday gift exchange with a crafty group of girls.  I wanted to create something with a little bit of a "wow" factor... but not SO much "wow" that I had to dedicate an entire day of my time and a good chunk of moola to supplies!  The answer - this fab pomander!

This is a fairly easy project, albeit a little bit time consuming.  It's a great one to create while plunked in front of a movie... I watched Elf on Netflix.  :)

The Typeset DSP is such a perfect solution to these fab creations - the look of vintage books without the hunting through flea markets.  Woo hoo!

To make this pomander was quite simple - I started with a styrofoam ball and attached a ribbon loop to hang.  Using 3" squares of Typeset DSP, fold into triangles, folding three times in total.  Bend the bottom piece and adhere to the ball.  Full disclosure:  this looks like a HOT MESS while you're working on it.  It will come together, I promise!  When finished, I smeared a little Tombow adhesive onto the edges of the paper and then rolled the ball, one section at a time, in Champagne glass glitter.  This amazeballs glitter is looong retired, unfortunately (I hoarded it!) but our regular glitter would work beautifully, as well.

Happy holiday decorating!

25 Days/Tiny Treat Box Advent Calendar

It's here!  It's December!  I love, love, love December.  I love the countdown to Christmas, I love the holiday traditions, I love the time with my family.

My son is only 3, but we've done an advent calendar for the last two years.  He just loves it - he knows that 25 means Christmas is here and Santa is coming!

This year, I wanted to create a custom advent calendar - I loved the idea of making one with the Tiny Treat Boxes and the 25 Days stamp set from our Holiday Catalog.  So easy, and so pretty!

To me, the easiest way to tackle this was to pick a colour pallet, gather a few supplies, and just go to town.  I can't overthink a project like this or I'll never finish!

My colour pallet was simple, bright, and non-traditional.  I went with Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Real Red, and Silver.

You can keep the boxes super simple...

Or fancy them up a bit!

Once they're done, stack them all up (or place them flat, or in a tray) and you're ready to fill them with your treats!

It's early in the month - set some time aside today and go for it!

See you again soon!

Blended Bloom friendship card

Just another quick pop-in with another easy card!  I'm getting my house prepped for Christmas this weekend and will be sharing my Tiny Treat Box Advent Calendar on Monday, so make sure to check back!  Lots of holiday fun coming up soon!

This card is a real show-stopper in person.  The Blended Bloom stamp is a stunner - with our Blendabilities alcohol markers, creating a gorgeous focal point is easy and simple.  And in so many colour options!  It was actually really hard to pick a set to use, but I decided on Rich Razzleberry for the petals, Daffodil Delight for the centre, and Old Olive for the leaves.  So easy, so fun, and so beautiful.

Add a few splatters (these ones were done with the splatter stamp from the original Paper Pumpkin kit) and a sentiment, and you're done!  Ta-da!

See you again in two days to kick off December!  Eek!

Groovy Love and Gorgeous Grunge

I'm just popping in for a minute to share a quick and easy card!  Our monthly team challenge was a sketch this time around - I interpreted with a masked area, messed it up with Gorgeous Grunge, and added a heart, a sentiment, and a couple of embellishments - what could be easier?

The Stampin' Up Grid Paper is perfect for masking off areas like this.  Fold it back over itself, lining it up with the lines and leaving a gap your desired size, then slip your card front in and go to town.  Super simple!
