Irresistibly Yours Rainbow and Think Happy

Have I mentioned how in love with the Irresistibly Yours Specialty DSP I am?  Seriously, it is my number-one go-to must-have item for Sale-A-Bration 2015.  It is SO amazing and the catalog doesn't do it justice!  What looks like a brown and white paper is actually a white-on-white embossed design that resists ink and can be coloured with sponges, spritzers, stamping, and more.  It's A-MAZ-ING.

Today was an all-day craft marathon and this is the project I'm most excited to share.  My new favourite thing, plus the "Think Happy" stamp set, which is highly underrated!  I love those swirly little clouds and the sweet sentiments in this set.

The striped paper was begging to be made into a rainbow.  It's so easy to get custom effects - to do this one, I just sponged the stripes, overlapping a bit to create the fade into the next colour.  When it was all done, I grabbed a cotton ball and "polished" the white areas to remove any colour that was left behind.  So easy and so "WOW."

What's your must-have item from Sale-A-Bration 2015?  With each item free with a $60 purchase, it's hard not to pick up at least a few!  Click here to shop my online Canadian Stampin' Up shop now!

Another Thank You - gold and Coastal Cabana

Today's post is going to be quick - the boys are gone, dinner is in the crockpot, the dog is walked, and I have an ENTIRE DAY (!!!) to craft in peace and quiet!  Eek!

I had to make a very special Thank You for my very special grandparents last week - they're older folks, obviously, so I didn't want to go too crazy.  I started with gold and Whisper White, but it was SO boring - I had to add a little funk in somewhere!  A little splatter (with an old Paper Pumpkin stamp) and a coloured card base in Coastal Cabana and we are all set!

I was saving this card to share until I was pretty sure it had arrived - kind of silly, considering I really doubt my 85-year-old grandparents are checking crafting blogs in their spare time!  :)

Have a GREAT weekend - I'm off to lock myself in my craft room and enjoy some "me" time!

Triple-Up Thursday - One Tag Fits All!

Our first Triple-Up Thursday of the new 2015 Occasions Catalog!  Eek!

If you're new to my blog, Triple-Up Thursday is a regular feature where I create a set of three 3x3" cards using a very limited selection of supplies - one stamp set, five ink pads, and (sometimes) a couple of embellishments.  I like to show that beautiful crafts don't always have to be complicated or require a full hoard of craft supplies.  This week's featured stamp set is "One Tag Fits All," an adorable new set from the new catalog.

My colour pallet this week is a bit different than usual.  I went with three colours - Crushed Curry, Strawberry Slush, and Bermuda Bay - with black (I used Staz-On) and gold as my accent colours.  Bright, cheery, fun, and versatile - just like the stamp set!

The first card - "You're A Gem!" is my favourite.  I love the extra sparkle of the Gold Glimmer and Foil papers.

This one is super fun, and very simple to create.  You can be done in three seconds flat.  Perfect for a little gift or note tag!

And lastly, the Happy New Baby card brings bright fun colours, a bit of glitz, and a new trend that I'm always reticent to try - doodling - to the table.  So fun!

Thanks for stopping in today and we'll see you again very soon!

Happy... Divorce?

A while back, at the Stampin' Up Canada mini-conferences, one of the creative folks from our head office had mentioned that they often get requests for a "congratulations on your divorce" stamp set. The room erupted with laughter, but the idea stuck with me - if people are requesting it, there's a market, right?! I know one woman who had a divorce party a couple of years ago, so it's not like this is an unheard-of occasion.

Last week, I started building this card with a wedding in mind. And then something happened - I picked up the heart before the Crystal Effects was totally dry, and I cracked it. Well, crap. What now? I wasn't going to throw it out and start over - that stuff had already been sitting for HOURS! And then I remembered the conversation at conference.

I decided to roll with the punches - I kept wiggling and cracking that heart until it was all busted up.  Then I found the perfect post-divorce sentiment - Happy Healing - and my happy accident took shape.

It was a happy accident that the Typeset DSP background (cut and laid like hardwood) ended up with "This is no Humbug!" in the bottom right corner.  True story!

In other news:  SALE-A-BRATION started yesterday, AND the 2015 Occasions Catalog was launched!  Have a peek on my website by clicking here and check it out!
