Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop - Fabulous Flourishes!

Hello friends!  It's my most favourite day of the week - blog hop day!  I'm so happy you're joining us for another Artisan Design Team blog hop.  This week is an "open" hop, meaning we will all be creating with different items - these are my favourite, since there's so many fabulous ideas!

My paper crafting style is no secret; I'm a sucker for all things grunge, bright colours, and sharp contrasts.  I wanted to make something very "me" this week, which means all of the above!  The grunge of Touches of Texture, the fabulous colour pallet of Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, and Cucumber Crush, and the stark contrast of the messy grunge, delicate flowers, and glam touches of silver!

I'm completely head-over-heels with the entire new catalog, but these are a few of my favourites.  I adore the detail in the Flourish Thinlits - I've used several of the pieces in this card, cutting and layering them to add dimension and texture.  A little tip from me to you?  The Precision Base Plate and Die Brush are your friends with these delicate designs!  And speaking of texture?  Touches of Texture has it in SPADES.  It's an instant love-affair for my inner '90s teenager.  Grunge is SO in again.

Sometimes a card doesn't quite cut if for those really big thank yous, so I like to have boxes around for little gifts.  It's easy to whip them up in a flash with the Envelope Punch Board.  This basic box is made in no time flat - check it out in this video!

Wasn't that simple?!  Now throw on that belly band and away you go!

I brought the same colour pallet to the box, decorating it with a belly band - it easily slides off to preserve the details and let the recipient open the box without destroying your hard work.  Love this pallet?  I do too - here's a "pinnable" image for you!

The details are divine - more delicate Flourish cut-outs, some skinny Melon Mambo ribbon, and a White Perfect Accent.  The silver embossing on the sentiment compliments the metallic band for a bit of glam.

They make a fabulous pair, don't they?  Don't forget about your envelope for an extra-special touch, either - I've just adhered a flower to the corner for a pop of pink!

Thank you so much for coming by today - now be sure to carry on with the hop and head over to see Steffi in Germany!

Cheers,
Shannon

Scenic Scenery

Should I let my card do the greeting today?? :)

Hey there, friend!  It's a beautiful summer day here in Calgary - my boy and I are off to splash at a water park and then get some ice cream!  I love days like this... but on the downside, it makes it hard to craft!  I need a good rainy weekend ahead to get my work done!

I'm not a huge user of DSP - Designer Series Paper - in fact, I tend to buy it, hoard it, and sell it at my retirement sale!  I love looking at it and I always have really good intentions... but it's usually something I struggle to use.  Not anymore!  When I saw "Scenic Scenery" DSP in the new catalog, I totally swooned.  The patterns are so neutral but so fabulous - I knew they'd be as easy to incorporate as ribbon or embossed cardstock, and I wasn't wrong!  I loved playing with this package when I opened my shipment.

The patterns are to-die-for, and they go with virtually everything.  I've used three of them in these cards, and I know I'll be using up the stack in no time flat!  They will make fabulous home decor, too, or giftables... the options are endless.

I'll be back tomorrow night for another Artisan Design Team blog hop - please stop by and join us!

Cheers,
Shannon

Pineapple Affection

Hello and happy Friday!

A few weeks ago, I was working on creating a project for the Artisan blog hop - the focus product was the Love & Affection stamp set (yes, the post that just went live last week!) and this card was a bit of a warm-up for me.  I was using Love & Affection and trying to work it in with other stamp sets - I found a bit of a match made in heaven with the Pineapple stamp!  The line-drawing flowers made for a perfect stamped background and allowed the pineapple to POP!

Speaking of a match made in heaven... this colour combo had my heart going pitter-patter!

Emerald Envy brings such a richness to this bright, bold pallet - it is a perfect tropical green!

I hope you have a fabulous weekend in store - see you soon!

Cheers,
Shannon
