Creativity Hop - I'm it!

Last week, I received an out-of-the-blue email from a crafter whose work I adore - the lovely Lisa Harlow of Dwell Delightfully - saying she would like to tag me in the Creativity Blog Hop and wondering if I would be interested. I was so flattered that she thought of me - I adore her work and it was so nice to hear she enjoys mine! Pop over to Lisa's blog to see her work - her projects are so lovely and her photography is just awesome. She has one of the most beautiful Instagram feeds out there!

Now onto the Creativity Hop Q&A!

What am I working on now?   I've got two projects on the go right now - the first is samples for my upcoming Halloween Goodie Bag class (which I need to get done ASAP, so watch for that soon!) and the second is a Thanksgiving wreath. It might seem like I'm ahead of the game on that one, but I'm Canadian so Thanksgiving is right around the corner! I'm a procrastinator-with-a-capital-P and this last week has been chaos - add those up and I'm behind! Yikes!

How does my work differ from others in my genre?  This question is so hard to answer - while I think I very much have a style of my own, I can't really describe HOW or WHY - I just know my stuff looks like my stuff!  I feel like my cards and projects in generally are usually less organized and less formatted than a lot of what I see.  It's a giant disaster on a page, but it somehow comes together and works.  It's the graffiti of paper-crafting.   I'm also quite varied in what I create and don't really stick with a set genre.

Why do I create what I do?  I absolutely love being able to create something with my own two hands, especially when it's for someone I love.  Even without a recipient or a purpose in mind, just the act of creating something out of its parts is one of my favourite things in life - it's therapeutic.

How does my creative process work?  My process is defined by a lack of process.  I don't tend to plan and I don't usually have something in mind when I sit down to create.  I keep my supplies within arms-reach and I just grab whatever calls to me and work it into my project, and then I stop and call it done.  I love to mix stamp sets, choose unexpected texture/colour/style combinations, and generally just make a mess of things.  Like most of my life - it's a very fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants, chaotic process but it all works out in the end.

TAG!  I'm nominating my fabulous friend, wonderful upline, and Artisan Award winning crafter, Allison Okamitsu of Nice People Stamp.  She is amazing and I know you will love her blog!  Her post will go up a week from today, on Monday, October 13.  Check for it then!
