Adventure Awaits - Happy Retirement, Mom!

Hi friends!  I have a beauty for you today, and this one has been a long time coming.

Back at the end of June, my beautiful momma retired.  She went back to work after my parents separated, and then embarked on an education and a new career while my brother and I were in high school.  She put herself through school while raising two teenagers, and then worked in accounting from the ground up, eventually becoming a department head.  And this year, she decided it was time to call it quits!  I made a really special card for my momma, since I was so proud of her accomplishments in her career and had worked so hard to finally be able to retire.

As you can see by this photo, I had already written the card for her when I photographed it.  The envelope in the picture is upside-down because I had already addressed it.  But two months later, that card has never arrived!  Canada Post let me down... and I've been holding onto this picture for two months in hopes that the card would come before I posted it!  No luck, so far, and so here it is.  I'll have to use my blog-post to recreate it for her one of these days.  Sigh!

I really loved this card.  The simple style, the vintage-fancy touches of copper, the old-world globe, and the soft colour pallet of Pool Party, Pear Pizzaz, Marina Mist, and Whisper White with touches of copper.  Why is it that the mail that never arrives is the most important stuff?!  Waaaahhh!

My blog posts will be sporadic for a while longer as my son and I are still on holidays.  As I write this, I'm at my mom's new home on the other side of the country, where she will be retiring in the city she grew up in.  She has a beautiful home on a quiet street with a pond and a creek in the backyard - it's beautiful and peaceful, and she deserves every wonderful moment here.

Love you, momma.  I'm so proud of you.  XOXO.

Jar of Confetti

Hello friends, and happy Friday!  My son and I are still visiting family, so after a hot morning at Point Pelee, Ontario followed by ice cream and a trip to a splash pad, we are vegging in the air conditioning again!  While he is colouring, I thought I'd hop on my blog and share another card.

This is a fun one, isn't it?!  I love making shaker cards, and the Jar Of Love stamp set makes it all the more fun - shaker mason jars!  I love this sentiment - "throw kindness around like confetti" - and wanted to fill a jar with goodies to reflect.  The bright combo of Real Red and Bermuda Bay balances the grey nicely, and the glitter and sequins add a fun touch.

If you don't have Jar Of Love yet, it's a total must-have from the new catalog - so fun!

Have a great weekend!

Flourishing Phrases - Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop

Hello friends!  Welcome back to another Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop.  We are so pleased to be back again to share some creations with Flourishing Phrases and the coordinating Flourish thinlits.

The funny thing with this project is that a few weeks ago, I shared a project for an "open" blog hop - meaning we can use whichever supplies we would like from our Artisan boxes - and I used the exact supplies we are supposed to use for this hop, and then when THIS hop rolled around, I had no ideas!  Yes, even the artisan team gets a mental block sometimes!

I decided since the last project was so bold and graphic, this one would be softer and with more muted colours.

This combination of Tip Top Taupe, Old Olive, and Calypso Coral with a touch of gold works together beautifully.  It's soft and gentle; perfect for a card like this.

Thanks so much for swinging by!  Let's pop over and see what Steffi has whipped up this week.

Have a fabulous day!

Enjoy Your Day!

Hi there!  I'm just getting ready for an Artisan Blog Hop tomorrow night and realizing how long it's been since I posted - yikes!  I'm in beautiful southern Ontario for a visit with my family; my son and I have been enjoying the beach and the hot weather - that boy is a fish and really loves the water!  He's happy as a clam here and we sure are enjoying our visit!

Meanwhile, my husband is at home (probably catching up on sleep, as any parent can appreciate!) and I figured I should share this card!  He has already seen it - and it was intended to be his birthday card - but just as I was adhering the finishing touches, I remembered that I promised him I'd make a llama card for his birthday.  What can I say?  The dude loves llamas.  So this one was tossed aside as quickly as it was made.  Whoops.

I still like it, though!  I like the simplicity, the colours, and that beautiful sunburst - made by stamping the rays from Wherever You Go twice.  So easy, and such a lovely technique!

Have a wonderful day - see you late Wednesday night for an Artisan Design Team blog hop!
