Hey Chick!

Hi friends!

A few weeks ago, my friend and fellow Artisan team member Holly make a totally amazing card.  One of those cards that you see and you KNOW you need to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit, or Copy and Share Everything) immediately!

The eggy background the blue-and-orange colour scheme, and the little loops of twine were to die for!  I literally made it the next night.  It was way too cute not to.  You can find her beautiful card on her blog, Holly's Hobbies.

And since my supplies were out on my desk, I decided to use that same card of Holly's as inspiration and whip up another one!

The one on the left is my recreation of her fabulous card, and on the right is my reinvented version.

Because I'm a junkie for colour, I brought in some fun background paper and some brighter blue by using Bermuda Bay in lieu of Pool Party.  I love how while many of the elements are the same - the stamp sets, the DSP, and the twine - it's a very different card.  The possibilities with Stampin' Up! supplies truly are endless!  And best of all - this adorable stamp set is FREE during Sale-A-Bration.  My favourite four-letter F-word!  Hahaha.

Have a fabulous Monday and see you again soon!

Cheers,
Shannon

Think Pink - Fancy Friday Blog Hop

Hi friends!  We're back for another Fancy Friday blog hop!  So happy you've joined us.  You're probably coming from the extremely wonderful and incredibly talented Cindy Schuster, and you're now visiting me - Shannon in Calgary, Canada.  Our little group of friends and Stampin' Up! demonstrators is thinking pink this month - cotton candy, puffy dresses, and all things girly!

Confession:  I struggled with this BIG TIME.  I am entirely not a girly-girl (like WHOA.  Everything I own is black and I don't even know how to french braid) and going pink was tough!  I like pink as an accent colour, sure, but not as a focus!  I made several cards and decided to share the one I liked the most.  The others may come at a later date!

I dug out several of my new stamp sets to try for this hop, and I ended up going with Chase Your Dreams.  I wanted to use the adorable hand-drawn castle for a pretty pretty princess birthday card!  Castles, pink, and glitter seemed like a great combination, so I got to work with those.

I was kind of on to something, right?!  I mean, it's not MY style, certainly, but I suspect a little girl might love it.  I mean, I'm guessing... I don't KNOW any little girls, but still.  Ha!

The peek of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and the coordinating iridescent sequins just make it something extra special; the perfect bit of "bling" for a little princess.  I have to say - in the end, I had a lot of fun making this card!  I might CASE it again... but in blue next time.  :)

Let's hop over to the always-awesome Jeanna Bohanon and see what amazingness she has for us today!  Take it away, Jeanna!
Thanks so much for coming by today - I hope it was a fun one!

Cheers,
Shannon

Wedded Bliss

Hi friends!  I'm trying to get back into my normal blogging habits and start posting for frequently again - life has calmed down a bit and I can finally swing time for crafting AND posting!

Today's card is an oldie.  I whipped this one up months ago - November, I think! - and it's been sitting in my queue since then.

Now that we're in the thick of both the Occasions 2017 and Sale-A-Bration Catalogues, sometimes it's good to bring it back to basics and visit our old favourites from the Annual Catalogue.  This one uses Mixed Drinks, one of my favourite sets.  It's SO much fun!

I used the champagne flutes for this adorable wedding/anniversary card, obviously, but a couple of the other stamps - the bubbles and the "cheers!" - sneak nicely into the background for a little extra something.  Silver, So Saffron, and Flirty Flamingo make for a bright and cheery combination!  Lastly, the "Wedded Bliss" sentiment from Designer Tin of Tags has a fun, whimsical font - perfect for this lighthearted card!

What are some of your favourite sets in the annual catalogue?  Have you pulled them out recently?  Let's not forget about them!

Cheers,
Shannon

You're Pretty.

Hi friends!

We all have our "simple" moments, right?  Like, when we're a little LOT less intelligent than usual... we don't see something we're looking at, or you can't figure out a simple solution, or you ask an even dumber question?

Don't act like you don't... I KNOW you do.  Or if you really, truly don't, at least humour me for a minute.

I have these moments.  A lot of them, in fact.  It varies between hilarious and alarming, depending on the day.  And so does my bestie.  Hers are less often, but they're pretty epic when they do happen.

And whenever one of us says something really, really stupid, the other will look her in the eye, give her a sympathetic head-tilt, and say "Awww.  You're pretty."

It's our nice way of saying to the other, "hey, dude, you're being an idiot right now, but I love you anyway."

This stamp came in the Big On Birthdays set in the 2017 Occasions Catalogue, and it would be GREAT for birthdays - especially those big milestone ones the women in your life are having - but you really have to choose wisely.  Seriously, be careful.  Tread lightly.  Know your audience.

But for me, though, this was just a regular friendship card that would be perfect for my bestie.

I'm so glad we have that kind of a friendship.

XOXO,
Shannon
