Hello, Love! Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop

Hello friends, and welcome to my blog!  You are probably coming from the incomparable Rochelle Blok in Australia (not going to lie - pretty intimidated to be next in line; Rochelle is a tough act to follow!) and you're visiting me, Shannon Lane, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  I'm so glad you're here! 


I'm so, so excited to welcome you to the first official blog hop of the 2017 Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team.  We are the official design team for Stampin' Up!, and I'm so pleased to be back for a second year with a brand new group of ladies (and a few of my returning friends!)  

We are kicking off the month with a themed blog hop - and with Valentine's Day just around the corner, our assignment this week was the Sealed With Love bundle - you'll find this in your beautiful Occasions 2017 catalogue, which is loaded with amazing goodies.

I am one of the first to admit that traditional isn't my jam.  It never has been.  Valentine's Day can be more than just red and white, so don't let the patterns and colours in the Designer Series Paper make you disregard this collection entirely!  Grab those stamps and dies and get to work creating something fabulous, funky, and YOU.


This girl LOVES colour - the brighter, the better - so I ignored the classic red and pale blue and dove directly to my Brights.  These three colours make one of my all-time favourite colour combinations; Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, and Melon Mambo.  Paired with the stark contrast of crisp Whisper White and bold Basic Black, this card is modern and fun - perfect for your new-school valentine!

Home is Wherever I'm With You

Oh, HELLO!  So good to see you again!  Who has two thumbs and has been up to her freakin' eyeballs in stamping?  THIS GIRL!  But you wouldn't know it from my blog!  I've had deadlines and work on my desk for Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team projects and Corporate Blog posts, Fancy Friday blog hops, team swaps, display stamping for the Canadian Business Conference, custom orders, and more - which is to say I've been stamping my buns off and I can't share ANY of it with you!  Ack!  Soon, my pretties, soon... it will all come together one day soon.  But alas, today is not that day.

Today, however, I do still have some old cards up my sleeve!  Thank goodness for my twice-yearly retreats; I make a boatload of stuff (most of it just for fun!) and those cards are usually photographed and laying on the back burner, just perfect for times like this.  

This one is my favourite... and I can't believe I waited this long to share it! 


This card started with that totally amazing knock-your-socks-off DSP and it grew from there - I needed all things rustic, so naturally burlap was a good fit.  And then the stitched shapes, the sweet sentiment, and the fabulous flowers from Jars of Love.  Oof, this one just gets my heart beating.  I love the vintage-rustic look of everything together.

Sunrise Blocks

Hello friends!  What an exciting week it's been, with the release of the 2017 Occasions Catalogue AND the launch of Sale-a-Bration!  New to Stampin' Up!?  Sale-A-Bration is our most favourite time of year, when every $60 CAD purchase gives you a FREE item to choose from an exclusive catalogue!   Love, love, love!  More features will be coming with new products in the next few weeks - unfortunately, I've been up to my eyeballs in deadlines lately so all of my creating has to be kept secret for a little while!

Todays' card is a favourite made with classics from the 2016-2017 Annual Catalogue - and it's dead-easy but with a major wow-factor.  Colour blocking is one of my favourite ways to add impact to a simple background - by laying strips in alternating colours of cardstock, you can pack a major punch with minimal effort.


The strips I chose on this card are Calypso Coral, Peekaboo Peach, and So Saffron - and laid out like this, they remind me of a gorgeous sunrise.  So lovely!  The background has so much oomph that it's easy to keep the rest of the card simple - a bold sentiment and a couple of white embellishments do the trick!  This one would be tons of fun to recreate in different colours schemes.  Blue is my favourite colour, so I'm envisioning this with Dapper Denim, Marina Mist, and Soft Sky; or Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, and Pool Party.  Ooh la la!

Good Cheer for the New Year

Hello friends, and happy new year!  I'm back after a holiday hiatus (by which I mean I've been sicker than a dog for several weeks and blogging was incredibly low on my radar - I haven't even touched a stamp set since early December!)  

I wanted to share a fun and fabulous card with you today to ring in 2017.  Why a new year card?  Because sometimes christmas gets away from us!  If you didn't send out holiday cards this year, why not whip up a few beauties to send to friends and family now?  


Stitched With Cheer has great stamps for the winter festivities, and this colour combination and bit of shimmer is definitely new year-worthy.  And don't fret - the Stitched Shapes framelits will be back very very soon!
